Freshman Dorms

Um...busch is social suicide from what i heard...if you wanna be surrounded by a lot of people studying their assess of nonstop (a bit exageration im sure)..live on busch...if you want to have a social life at rutgers and have fun..live on college ave. Don't get me wrong..I plan on getting good grades if I go to rutgers (which is about a 90% chance if I don't get into Penn)..but I don't plan on doing it while having my face constantly shoved in a book and while not partying

Oh and I don't mean to stereotype all of Busch...I'm sure there are cool kids there..but the majority of them...

In other news, if you happen to know older kids, Cook isn't taht bad of a choice. I've met a lot of kids in the Newells and Starkys apartments and have a good time every weekend.

Oh man...this is really scaring me off now. I really liked Busch when I visited. There are a lot of Asians there, (I am Asian myself) and that makes me more comfortable. I'm not racist. But I'm sure you understand...we click better somehow.
Is it very common for people from other campuses to visit another for the night to party?

You have good reason to like it...the dorms are supposed to be awesome..and I can understand the asian thing..I don't want to scare you off completely...I don't go to rutgers myself...I may be next year...but my sister and all her friends went there and I have friends up there now, and this definitely seems to be the general consensus (did i spell that right) from everyone..College ave is social and Busch is not...if you know people who go to rut..ask them..theyd prob say the same

Hmm...do you mean social as in "kick-ass parties" or social as in plain old "hanging out"? Because I don't mind not going to parties every single weekend...as long as I'm not stuck with a bunch of bookworms all year. :\ I could deal with just getting together with some people and having fun (like science_please said). Are they just not as wild and crazy?
And again, is it common for people from other campuses to go party elsewhere a lot?

I'm on Busch right now and I love it. It's easy to get to the other campuses if you want. A lot of people hang out together on Busch because this is where the science/engineering/pharm majors tend to live. Those people have the same majors and become friends. It isn't social suicide unless you alienate yourself.

stargirlx...based on what you're saying (especially the part about Asian people) I think you would be better off on Busch...

I am definitely going to live on Busch if I go to Rutgers...

Yeah if you live on Busch it is not too hard to get to College Ave on the weekends to party. The buses are decent and late at night they even have a "drunk bus" to get you back safe no matter how wasted you are.

Thanks for the reassurances, guys. I thought I would be happy on Busch, but it really freaked me out to hear that it was 'social suicide'. I do intend on having a social life...I'm not really one to hole up with books.

A drunk bus??? LOL....are you for real? But don't people get caught drinking by the campus police easier like that?

(**By the way, how do you view more topics and threads in this Rutgers forum? Is there a link to the archives that I'm temporarily blind to?)

Well I'm just going by everything I've been told by everyone I know at rutgers..including my sister and her friends who i trust a lot..but hey if you think your better off at busch more power to you..i may be a smart kid in engineering..but i liiike to partyy :)

Well, I expect that people at Busch can still party if they go to other campuses for the night. I doubt it's completely off-limits to them. :P Just a little inconvenient, but if I feel like partying, I'll manage. ;)

I don't think the matter is the how convenient it is..yea you can go to the other campuses...I think the issue is that most just dont haha...and if thats fine for you than great..i just don't wanna surround myself with that group of people
