I know a thread about residence halls was posted before, but no one really answered the question. Can you choose which dorm you live in and if so, what's a good one to choose? I'm looking for a place relatively quiet, social, with nice rooms, etc. that's close to the main campus (I'm not in honors so no West Village). Since they're opening West Village, will they let more non-honors people live in Kennedy. I was looking at the campus map and most of the freshman dorms seem to be far away across the street including Kennedy. Is it a lot closer in person? Okay, so can you give the top 3 best freshman dorms. Thanks.

I think that you can still choose which frosh dorm you want to live in. Anyway, the frosh dorms are not far away at all. It take less than five minutes to walk from the frosh dorms to West Village. The campus is not as spread out at the map makes it seem. I will have have to give some thought about the top 3 frosh dorms.

Yeah Stetson East and West really are not far from the rest of the campus at all. When I looked at a map I was surprised how far away it looked but it took no time at all to walk from there to other places on campus when I visited.

If we get to choose dorms... when? On the application I already filled out there was nothing about residence halls. Just LLC's and double/triple/economy.

You guys should check with the residential life department. I seem to remember being able to choose my frosh dorm but I may be wrong. However, I do know that you can select the upperclass dorms that you want to live in. Sorry that I can't be of more help on this.

If you're not familiar with the area, things usually seem farther away than they are. I felt the same way visiting the campus, but once you get the hang of the location of everything it's probably not too far.

If you're not in Kennedy or Loftman (international LLC, quads) there's not much difference between the other dorms, so I wouldn't be too worried. They're all pretty close and I don't think there are any really terrible freshman dorms.
