Freshman Engineering major CHM2045

When I registered for classes at preview I did not complete the CHRA (chem placement exam). I was automatically placed into Intro to chem(CHM1045). As soon as I went home I completed the exam and it allowed me to take CHM2045, but there were no available seats on isis registration. I'm also not sure how chm2045 would fit in my schedule. I could use a brush up on chem, but I don't mind going straight into chem1.

Should I send an e-mail to request a change, or should I just take intro to chem?

If I don't take Chem1, Would that hinder me in the future? Would I be playing catch up?

Were you given the chance to take the placement test during preview?

No. They didn’t allow anyone to take the placement exams at preview this year.

2045 is a piece of cake. Just take it.

I’m pretty sure I already asked somewhere in this thread, but…

If i have credit for both CHM 2045 and MAC 2311/2312, and intend to sign up to take CHM 2046 and MAC 3474 my first semester, would i have to take the placement tests?

alittlelate, my S was a freshman mech engineering student this year. He got all A’s and 2 B’s living in a very social dorm floor. However, CHM2045 was his hardest class hands down this year. He had no problems with Chem honors in high school, but CHM2045 is extremely difficult for many. He had Mitchell, and although he was a pretty good prof, the tests were pretty brutal for him. Physics with Calc, Calc 1 and Calc 2 were pretty easy for him, but CHM2045 was really hard for him. He was lucky to get a B, he says. I don’t think taking the intro to chem is a bad idea, especially if you are going to summer b. It is not easy either, but is a good refresher class…and only 2 credits this year.

I would not call 2045 a piece of cake, but you probably won’t get much out of 1025. I would go straight into it.
