Freshman Engineering Summer program

Has anyone attended the START UP freshman Engineering program? It is a 6 week intensive program offered for incoming freshman Summer B. My son is considering applying and trying to determine if it is worth it …we think it is a great idea as it WOULD acclimate him to the University. On the other hand, a break for Summer would be great…

I forgot to mention that the program is at the University of Florida.

I think it is a good idea. It would also satisfy the summer term requirement.

We knew several kids who started college immediately after high school graduation and liked the experience of getting the summer requirement out of the way and just getting settled in early to the campuses.

Yes, if you are at a Florida public, doing the required summer session in the prefrosh summer leaves the later summers free for jobs that may relate to major and career.

Any reason to leave home for the summer sounds good to me. HS grads are usually difficult to live with before they (finally) leave for school. Only retired to Florida and not used to the concept of a required summer session. Sounds like a good idea to get it over with as above.
