i dont want this summer to go to waste
should i apply for an internship?
volunteer work?
relaxing this summer is like an automatic reject from harvard

-volunteer work is great. interning is great.
-you can take a course at a community college
-if you are an athlete they are lots of sports camps at colleges and elsewhere.
-you could get a job.(comes with the nice benefit of money :) )

if you have a passion in something you should start building your resume in that field (as harvard likes applicants with a "passion").

You can also start thinking about what you want in a college (urban, rural, large, small, etc) and start researching. Check out guidebooks from the library and see what sounds interesting to you.

And definitely find your "passion", as tawny suggests.

booo just enjoy yourself, you are too young to have your life ruined by trying to create the perfect college application

remember, enjoy this summer while it lasts, cuz you got your two most important years grade-wise coming up!!!!!! best of luck to you, cuz I just finished my junior year and the pressure of getting all A's is off for me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Volunteer, create, push yourself to a new athletic limit. Absolutely, relaxing will get you nowhere!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

get laid..........................

omg like how many exclamation points can we put in a post??????

Seriously though. You might be a little young to intern, but get a job, play a competitive sport, or volunteer.

doing stuff during summer other than enjoying it and making money (ie, college whoring) is highly overrated

Only do stuff you want to do. I dunno, I did a bunch of summer stuff that was art related and it ended up looking pretty good because it all showed the same constant interest, but I did it because I loved it and would have done it even without the whole college pressure thing. I wasn't tailoring my resume...I could've picked 'better' stuff for that, but I did what I wanted.

If there's nothing you can find that suits your interests or if you can't afford anything that does, look for a job. It's always nice to save some extra cash for college, or even for a summer program that you want to do the year after.

sleep, hang out with friends, and dont worry about school

Volunteering at a summer camp might be an option. After my kids outgrew their various day camps (science, robotics, computers, theater) they were often able to be counselors or aides, sometimes even for pay. ;-)

lol im pretty sure that the poster already decided how to spend their summer....since they posted in june. hope you had a good/productive summer though!

Ah, the miracle of thread revival!

Never mind then.

Whatever your heart desires.
