Is it something popular? What exactly is it like to be part of the Freshman experience vs. not in this program? Is it worth it?

Yeah about 95% of freshman do freshman experience. It’s not really anything different than you would expect. The RA’s for freshman experience are called PL’s (peer leaders) and they try and facilitate the adaptation to college by promoting residence hall unity and are a source of guidance if you ever have any questions. There are a lot of programs that the freshman experience housing puts on like discount Braves and Thrashers tickets, visits to various museums, ice skating, etc. I personally think freshman experience was valuable.

Also, you are also supposed to take GT1000 (the freshman seminar class) if you are in freshman experience but it is not a truly mandatory thing, just highly suggested. I personally don’t have anything good to say about GT1000 but other students may have thought it helpful.

The best reason to do FE is to stay with freshmen - you’ll meet people who want to make friends and who are taking the same classes as you.

FE is slightly more expensive than non-FE (I think less than $50 difference) and that money is used for various events (as RmblinReck stated in his post).

GT1000 is 1 hour course that’s on a grade basis. It’s an A if you show up. I’d recommend taking it.

Does anybody know if there is a difference between summer freshman experience and fall freshman experience?

I’m wondering if I should wait till Fall if I end up starting this summer!
