freshman going off campus?

My son will be a freshman in the fall. He’s not going to get on campus housing. We’ve been exploring off campus. Don’t want to sign a year lease, as he may not stay the summer and we’ve learned from his sister’s situation that subletting the place for the summer is easier said than done. The drawback to Southgate is you must purchase their meal plan; he’d like to do the campus mealplan. Studio Green rents for the academic year and doesn’t require a meal plan, but I’m hearing some bad things regarding its neighborhood, internet speed, the resident director. Does anyone have any suggestions–he won’t have a car his first year and we’re reluctant to sign a year lease. Thanks.

Hi My daughter is in the same situation. She was admitted late and didn’t get on-campus housing. She’s #25 on the Southgate waiting list. Any suggestions of what off-campus housing would be closest to the music school? Dorm-style would be the most ideal. Thanks.

Southgate is as close to the music building in terms of dorm style. I believe they’re are a few apartments on College Ave, but I’m not too entirely sure how it is.
