freshman housing at duke?

any information???

All together on the East Campus, not many parties there I hear because...well...we are <21

That's ridiculous. Forgive me for sounding naive, but you don't have to have alcohol to have a party. In my first few weeks/months, I'm going to be much more focused on meeting people and making friends rather than how much I can drink.

me too!
meeting people and setting up networks is my top priority

lol, ok, I meant drinking parties

I know you don't have to have ethanol for a party, but I meant like the really big frat party sort of deal

better?

(Btw, the above is not supposed to sound as angry as it reads)

thoughtprocess - Yes. I thought that was an all-encompassing "parties," which would've disappointed me to an extent. But that makes much more sense.

we should have a cc party when we get there. lol :D

Yeah, I agree with you gmf that drinking isn't the only way to have a party. The East campus is generally 'calmer' than the rest of the campus since there aren't any frats and stuff (atleast thats I've read most places). I hear that some students take a shuttle to their classes as Freshman, which is kind of weird.

We take buses to West where a lot of classes are. I never heard it referred to as a shuttle. The classes on East are mainly History, Literature and a writing and math class here and there.

if you want to party, take the bus to west campus...my host (for duke up close) said all frat parties are open to all

Cool. Does anyone know how the dorms are? I haven't seem them, although I'm sure someone on here has.
Are they all about the same?
Big/small?
Carpeted/not?
What kind of furniture is standard?
Would I be able to fit a semi-large TV into my room comfortably? (Probably 2 ft wide x 1.5 ft tall x 2-2.5 ft deep just as a rough guess)

they're not all exactly the same... some have air conditioning, one has suites, there are other differences, but really there's no "bad" or "good dorm" on East, they're actually all pretty similar when it comes right down to it. (though the new dorm, Belltower or something, is supposed to be pretty sweet, albeit relatively far away from the main quad). Epworth is a lot different, but that's not going to be a dorm next year.
All are about 100-130 people I think, so no huge towers or anything, pretty close communities.
I think some may be carpeted, but most rooms are not.
Furniture: desk, bookshelf thing, dresser, chair, bed
You could probably fit that TV into a dorm room here.
