Freshman Housing on The Commons???

I’m not completely sure about this, but athletes may get some kind of priority for singles. A classmate of my D is going on athletic scholarship and she may have been offered the opportunity for a single. But then again, D may not have this story correct.

@macaroni…i doubt it? i don’t think that’s anywhere on the housing form. you can request a double but i think that is it. also, a word of advice for those who don’t know: i believe the beds are going to be lofted when you arrive, so if you want to get them down i would decide sooner rather than later so that a parent can help you.

Do some people already have housing forms? If so, how did you get them?

Students must first get their VU net ID

as to whether students get singles on the commons, im pretty sure that freshmen are by default in a double, and my guess is that only the odd people out in each dorm get singles.
(i was just at an open house this past weekend and the guide said all freshmen are put in doubles)

OK here’s the deal on housing. Freshman year you get to live in the commons which is really nice but far from everything but peabody. you can’t control where you end up so it’s all luck, but you want to get one of the new dorms. you share bathrooms with your whole hall but there are a lot of them so it isn’t bad. sophomore year you get completely *****ed and probably have to live in Kissam which sucks. they don’t tell the prospies about it but it’s temporary housing that was built in the 50s because at that time the enrollment at colleges shot up because of the gi bill. it has mold, rats, only singles and is known for being quiet. if you’re lucky you get branscomb. junior year you need a little luck but can hopefully get an apartment in highland quad. they’re old and not too nice but you have a common room and kitchen. main downside is that youre far from everything but the rec center but its still your best option. senior year you hope for towers suites. theyre ok, kind of old, but you get to live with 5 friends, have a common room and kitchen, and youre in a really good location on west end near greek row. there are other dorms but that seems to be the most common desired path.
