Freshman Housing: Tercero vs Segundo

Hey everyone! Congrats to all accepted. I am coming to Davis this fall as an Environmental Science major and am looking to live on campus. I simply however cannot choose between the Tercero and Segundo living areas. What are some pros and cons of both? Things I have heard are that Segundo has a better location but Tercero has better rooms and food. Thoughts? Deadline is May 6th so I better get on this! Thanks in advanced.

My son is a current freshman. He is currently living in the Segundo area although he put Tercero as his first choice.
Segundo is closer to the ARC and the University Mall across from campus. Also closer to Frat Row and the Honor students are housed in this area. Some of the Living/Learning communities are housed in the Segundo dorms but these change each year. My son is an Environmental Major also and it has not been a problem with distances to his classes. The food at the Segundo commons is pretty much the same as Tercero and he has found no difference, it is just more convenient.
Tercero dorm are newer and larger, but they also have the most triples. The majority of the Living/Learning communities have been housed here. Tercero is more central to the science classes but on occasion you do get the “essence of cow” since the dairy is nearby. Also the third phase of the dorms will be opening for in-coming freshman this fall, so you have a chance to be the first in the new dorms.
You really can’t go wrong with either area.
