Freshman Housing

We’re shipping earlier because S is moving in earlier. They probable don’t want stuff to arrive too early due to storage issues. I also want to hear about tax free weekend. Is it this weekend? When does it start? I can order on Saturday if it will save me 10%.

You may need to wait until August 8 like it says in Road to Vanderbilt… I would contact the Vandy Post Office to confirm. There is a chance that if it arrives too early, your packages will just be held at the regular post office on Main Campus or moved to one of the Main Campus arrival areas, and may not be routed to the pick-up tent on Commons. I would imagine ordering the weekend before would be fine-- may want to avoid 2 day shipping though.

The tax-free weekend is this weekend [Sales Tax Holiday](http://tn.gov/revenue/salestaxholiday/). It probably is too early if the 8th is the earliest they can be shipped. (I’m have stuff shipped to a friend’s house in Nashville so I wasn’t thinking about the date).

Pyrrhic, the address is a PMB number at Vanderbilt Place…will they get another address to be used for shipping? I assumed the PMB was their mailing address. He knows he’s in Murray, but doesn’t know the room yet.

Pancaked - I’ve spoken with the band office and it is ok to ship early. They have a list of the early arrivers. Plus the things I am planning to ship have a 5 - 7 day lead time. I’m ordering online.

The PMB is what is needed to ship packages.

MommyDearest13–those PMB addresses are with the students for all 4 years, regardless of their dorm changes and are what is used for shipping or mailing anything. The Vandy post office is in the basement of Rand and if an item is too large for the little P O box, there will be a notice in the box to to to the package window during certain hours to claim the Amazon delivery or care package or whatever (I’m meaning later in the school year, not for freshman move in week). The room number in the dorm is relevant for visiting in person but not mailing.

I’ve been assigned to the Memorial House.
Is there anyone here who was also assigned to that dorm?

We got housing packets in TN today (well, in Nashville area ) yay! We have a roommate : )

Iris0208 - S is in Memorial. Haven’t checked the mail yet to see if the housing package made it to California today?

moonpie - Was it regular mail, priority or overnight?

@Moonpie-thanks for the update!

It’s s large white envelope, regular mail, I think. $1.92 postage? It was ripped open before i saw it. It contains hang tags for cars, detailed instructions, maps, etc.

No envelope in California. Hopefully it will come tomorrow.

Just checked mail. Still nothing in Cincinnati. Would love to start planning with D’s roommate.

Haha…I feel like we are back in Dec. waiting on the decision letters! Nothing in NJ today but if Moonpie got hers on Weds. my son’s will probably be here on Sat. That was how it was for decision letters mailed snail mail. :-/

Sorry Momthreeboys that I feel relieved we are not the only ones. There’s comfort in numbers:)

So I won’t get my hopes up out here in California. We leave in a week to fly back. It sure doesn’t leave us much time to coordinate. I was really hoping to ship a box or two back this weekend, but I need the address.

Yeah! I have an address. The address page on YES finally has his Vanderbilt mailing address.

I’m also thinking we may hear from the roommate before we get the package in the mail depending on where they live.

Go9ersjrh, you don’t even hav a PMB address? That’s all you need to ship things. You don’t ship directly to the dorm. If you need it now, I’m sure you could call and get it.

lenny2 - I did not have a PMB address until this morning.

Nada in NE Ohio too. It sounds like it wasn’t sent priority, so maybe it will show up Saturday.

I’ve seen some photos online of Crawford House rooms. One of the photos looks like a “regular” standard room (like you see on the campus tour); however, one of the pictures (with a 360 tour) shows a Crawford House room with a very different floor plan. I wonder if these rooms are perhaps corner rooms. (?) Does anyone know the room numbers of the larger rooms in Crawford?
