Freshman housing

are the honors program houses worth it? what is the best choice for a freshman?

Personally I'd recommend sticking with a Freshman dorm your first year. Although the Honors housing is exceptional you may miss some of the true Freshman experience. Now, if you are the type that makes lots of friends and joins a million activities/clubs then maybe Honors is fine.

Did you go into the Honors House on Bay Street Road when you visited? What did you think?

no i haven't been to either honors houses yet

From what I learned at Open House, most freshmen who want to live in honors dorms end up on south campus, which is about a ten minute walk from Comm Ave. The house is cute and rooms are slightly larger than typical freshman dorms, but it might be annoying to walk so far to the rest of campus, especially at night.

For a Freshman I would think the Bay St Honors Brownstone is in a better location than South Campus. As beautiful as it is you should think long and hard about it since most kids you meet will be living in Warren or West.

my friend is a freshman at BU and she lives in the honor house. her room is huge even though it's a triple. the ceilings are really high and you don't feel cramped at all. also, there were two closets and a bathroom. it's really quiet, but you have a nice view of baystate road.

Don't be left out of the loop check out what current students are saying about their dorms.

Nice and close to class. Don't have to deal with the guest policy which is good. Great view of the Charles. My building could use some repairs, its not as nice as most of them.

Fyi, south campus is not a 10 minute walk. Say from Buswell St which is in the heart of south, its like 3 minutes to CAS walking normally. Ive made it to SMG from south in 2.5 minutes when I was late on day.
