Freshman in college, what classes do i need to take?

HI, im going to be a freshman in college and im considering premed as my major. I heard that premed is not a major, but a path to a medical school. People who choose premed as their career usually pick classes like biology or chemistry..

But, I dont understand. Whats the difference if you just simply major in biology or if you are planning to take biology as your major to premed?

Also, if im planning on doing premed, what other classes should I take during the first year?

You should definitely take general Chemistry, so that you can take Organic Chemistry next year. Also take calculus.

Not much, if any, for course selections.

The bigger difference is if you do pre-med with a non-biology major (e.g. history, economics, math, etc.), in which case you may be able to spread out the pre-med courses in your schedule more than if you need to take them early for majoring in biology.
