My D is in 9 grade, looking for summer program that will also approved by colleges and consider as good EC as well.
Won’t be considered a good EC by UCs at least, summer stuff goes into a separate category on the application.
But Cosmos is one of the few that accept freshmen.
Thanks daunt18 .
She wants to do some research program as through school only couple of kids get a chance…
I was thinking about sending her to Northwestern or Umass. Not sure that will be helpful?
Hi!
A couple words of caution:
stay away from “pre college programs” offered at Ivy League schools. They don’t add anything to an application for the $6-8k they charge.
Also, I attended Cosmos in 2019! Best summer of my life. Highly recommend, if you’re in-state ($3900 for four weeks) and there’s financial aid. My friends doing the biomedical related clusters loved it as well.
My son did Rosetta Institute of Biomedical Research last summer (in-person!) in Berkeley, CA as a rising 9th grader. Now he had already taken community college biology w/lab (first half of the semester in person). He participated in the online Medicinal Chemistry workshop that Rosetta offered over winter break and liked that as well. Depending on where he gets accepted for next summer, he may do another one of the Rosetta workshops.
