Hello! I'm currently a Freshman at my high school. I've been curious what subjects exactly cover the ACT. I took the English and Mathematics parts from a legit practice test. Obviously, I didn't do too well on them (English: 22, Math: 24), when mostly compared to the level of colleges I may wish to attend.

I want to know some sort of way I can grow accustom to standardized tests such as the ACT so then on test day I do great on it. Any sort of tips would be great, too.

Honestly, just reading some ACT prep books can help a lot. You should also see if your school offers any ACT prep classes. My school offered one for free and I got a 26 composite on the diagnostic test and ended up getting a 28 on the real thing.

@m=Mythic, Honestly just doing practice tests and review should be good enough for you to get your score up.

English: Get the Princeton Cracking The Act 2012 Edition and go through the grammar rules, they are really helpful. Then go to this website: [ACT SparkNotes Test Prep: Punctuation](<a href=“SparkNotes: Today's Most Popular Study Guides”>SparkNotes: Today's Most Popular Study Guides) and go through all the rules (a little more in-depth). I went from a 27 English to a 35 doing this in a few weeks.

Math: Get the McGraw Hill book that has 10 practice tests. After reading through the Prince ton math section, just tackle some of these tests and fix/learn whatever you got wrong. I did this and went from a 26-35.

Reading: I did well on the reading section from the start so I don’t have any tips. When you are reading the passage MAKE SURE you understand it.

Science: Just pay attention and make sure you understand what everything means. Practice makes perfect in this section.

Then get the red book and just do the tests, see where you are and what you need to still learn, and go from there.

I did this and I went from a 27 Composite (Soph) to a 35 Composite (Junior) so hopefully it will help you out too!
