Freshman Interest Groups

Heyyy
so i just wanted to ask everybody something...
does anyone recommend FIGs?
does anyone vote against FIGs?
thks :)

My son did not sign up for a FIG because he wanted to take a second year foreign language and a poli sci class that was in a FIG but the FIG was closed.

Have you had your A&O session yet? If you’re thinking about pre-med or other sciences for your major you might have to take a FIG just to take some of the pre-requisites since most of the math and science classes are full. That was the experience many people in my orientation group faced a few days ago.

I wanted to take a FIG because it seems like one of the few ways to make such a large school like UW feel smaller, and I always wanted to go to a school with that kind of a large population/small community feel. Plus there was a cool FIG that has a seminar on exploring environmental majors, which I definitely need to do!

Check out the FIGs and figure out what you’re interested in, but you might not really have a choice this late… Good luck!

I didn’t, as I wanted to take math and physics first quarter, but would recommend a FIG if you can find one.
Besides registering for classes, it’s a great way to meet friends, which is especially important if you’re commuting
