Freshman Learning Communities

Hm, what happens if you finish your core by 2nd semester or have only say a single classes left? Do you just start taking mainstream courses then?

i think so? it is not the case for /too/ many people that they pass out of 8.01 and 18.02, and take 18.03, 8.02, and chemistry in the fall. presumably you can take bio in esg in the spring and the rest mainstream, or all mainstream, but i think that means you are no longer “in esg”… of course you would still be welcome to hang out there. and you could TA a core class if you were good at one of them.

oh, last question, if you’re in esg or concourse, do you have to take 18.03?

No. They don’t require you to take a particular class - they require you to take a certain number of classes with them.

Are concourse or ESG any good for someone who is going to have done Calc 1/2, Linear Algebra and Set Theory by the time they enter MIT? I’ll also have done AP Physics C thus skipping some physics,

I am excited about the idea of more interactivity with Professors, but not sure if these are right for me? Perhaps for my non math courses, if i take my other requirements here, for example Philosophy is ideal in such seminar style environments,
