Freshman List Your Schedule

You're so lucky, you get to take more courses that you like.
The advantage of mine , however, is that you can stay in a class that you like for a long time. Like Bio, Pre-Calc, Chem, Latin, and possibly Civics and Economics (probably not) would be fun. Then, English and PE would be the extreme opposite :p

Here's what I had for 9th grade:

Fall:
ESL -- stupid idiots messed up with my schedule.
Phys. Cond.
Geometry Honors
Biology Honors
Spring:
Commercial Art
Chemistry Honors
World History -- still suffering from ESL schedule problem, when they realized I exited ESL times ago, they didn't have place in honors WH.
AlgII -- there's no honors class in school

ah. theres so many freshmen. ah.

What do you mean by skipping too much material?

Do you guys think I should contact my guidance counselor? Because this is what I'm currently signed up for:

Computer Apps I <--- Want to switch out to Chemistry
Computer Apps II <--- Want to switch out to Latin I
Eart Science Hnrs <--- Want to switch out to Physics
Biology I Hnrs
English I Hnrs
Algebra II Hnrs <--- Want to switch up to PreCalculus
Civics and Economics Hnrs
PE

So right now, my schedule is kinda messed up, but when I try to log into the site, I find that my student number is deleted or something, so I'm going to try to call the school and see whats going on. It could be a real mess to switch 4 classes after school has started.
What do you guys suggest I do?

You can do your own schedule? Cool, For the Computer apps, definitely switch. I wouldb't switch to Physics, take Earth Science Honors. Algebra 2 is a required class for College, etc. You have to earn a credit in it.

Yeah, seriously! Trying to get a schedule change after school starts is no fun ordeal. Save yourself future pain.

How are you contacting your guidance counselor? I need to contact mine. I want the higher spanish class. School hasn't started for me I still have until 31st of August.

I would change Earth Science to Physics -- I've escaped torture of Freshman Science by a miracle :) Everything else I would've changed as you said, except for AlgII.
If you don't know how to solve simple quadratic equation you'll get killed at pre-calc.

Actually, not to brag, but I seem to know the Algebra II concepts already. I am an AoPSer (<a href="http://www.artofproblemsolving.com/Forum/index.php%5B/url%5D">http://www.artofproblemsolving.com/Forum/index.php</a>) and I spend the majority of the time I'm awake doing math ;)
Quad. Equations are no problem :)

I'm just gonna try calling the school and go from there. Hopefully they can give me some numbers or somethin.

Then go to Pre-Calc, tell them that I recommend you :D

Ok, sounds good :) Problem is, I might butcher my social life lol . Hey thanks man! :p They'd probably require me to take some kind of cumulative Alg. II test to see how I do. What topics do you recommend I brush up on?

Btw, how do you make the big grin?

Factoring/quadratic equations is the basic goal of AlgII. We had geometric problems on AlgII final but the majority of the test was factoring/quad. eqs (quad.formula, completion of the square, and easy stuff like that), knowledge of basic functions is also required, such as parabolas, circles, ellipses...
I'd recommend you visiting this web-site tutorial.math.lamar.edu/AllBrowsers/1314/1314.asp and seeing if you feel comfortable with that stuff.
Good luck!

Big grin: ": D" without spaces.

Wow thanks, really appreciate the help man.

:D

Edit: I just went over the topics, and I guess I got lucky. Looks like I know 85 - 90% of the stuff. Should be able to be ready, I have almost a month to prepare :) Looks like its mostly Algebra I with more in-depth study, and then a little bit of applied Geometry.

There are also Hyperbolas. :) Completing the square is very easy.

Yeah, I have no clue what they are, but this is my guess:

A graph of an exponential decay , and its mirror flipped over the axis over a linear equation in the form y = -x. :D

um....................no.

Hey, thats what it looks like :p
No wait, nvm. :D

Edit to below post: I knew that.

Yep, it does :P

I'm going to be a freshman this year too. Yeah, class of '10!

Period 1- 8:00-8:50....Hebrew Scriptures

Period 2- 8:54-9:44....English I Honors

Period 3- 9:48-10:38...Health (state required)

Period 4-10:42-11:32...World Geography Honors

Period 5-11:36-12:26...Spanish II Honors

Lunch-12:30-1:00 (required for all students)

Period 6- 1:04-1:54....Geometry Honors

Period 7- 1:58-2:48....Biology I Honors

Period 8- 2:52-3:42....Athletics (XCountry in Fall, Basketball in Winter, and Golf in Spring)

I start school tomorrow by the way, unlike most people who start in Sept.
