Freshman Math-Calc 1 or Calc 2

I will be a freshman student this fall with a major in biology. At orientation i signed up for Calc 1 but I got a 5 on the AP Calculus AB exam meaning I have the option to take Calc 2. I read somewhere that math isn't that important of a prereq and that you only need 2 courses. My main goal is to keep a high gpa, but i also want to get into a prestigious medical school. Would med schools look down on it if I took Calc 1 or should I go for Calc 2 and go through the hassle of rearranging my entire schedule around it?

There are quite a few medical schools that require two semesters of math, and some do not accept AP credits. The best thing to do would be to either do Calc 1 and Calc 2, or Calc 2 and an additional stats course.

take Calc 2 and Stats. Do not retake Calc 1 with a 5 on your AP exam.

Retake Calc I will be viewed as an “easy way out” in med schools’s eyes.

Plumazul said it all.
