I took multi in while dual enrolling at a college in high school. Me and quite a few other engineers who placed out of it and took differential equations or linear algebra. Those are math 293 or 294 and are generally taken in your sophomore year. Nearly all upperclassmen engineers I've talked to have said that multivariable was the hardest math class out of the math sequence. I doubt you'll have any trouble with either differential equations or linear algebra. Of course the prelims are hard but you will be prepared and IMO after hearing about how some people did multi, I believe that diff eq is much easier.

i took MV and linear algebra in high school, but because it wasn't at a college i didn't get any credit for it. There's a test you can take for 191 and 192 (calc II and III respectively)...i took the 192 one, didn't pass and had to take MV again. I thought it would be an easy A since I thought I knew the material, but it wasn't..I didn't even get an A. They use 192 to weed people out of the engineering school, therefore making it really hard.

are there any honors math courses for mv, for the ones who have taken in in high school but stilll want to take it again?

they do offer honors multivariable, it's highly theoretical.
