I'm planning to take:
Physics 7A
Engineering 10
Math 53
and 1 FFS (either the general Engineering or MechE)

Is this schedule too light? Also, here are a few schedules I made:

Mechanical Engineers have a very strict and rigid academic program (refer to your flow chart that you got at CalSO).

by FFS i'm assuming you mean freshman or sophomore seminar which is actually FSS.

anyways, I took a similar schedule last year, but with E28 in place of E10, in addition to a humanities course. I'd recommend taking a humanities course since from my experience they tend to be a breeze compared to engineering requirements. 3 technicals and 1 humanities course, as well as possibly a seminar...that's pretty standard, though some prefer to take it light first semester which also has its positives.

Yeah, whoops, it is FSS.

Anyway, I signed up for Physics 7A, Engineering 10, MechE 24, and Surviving Engineering 98.

I'm thinking about taking Math 1B instead of 53 because the prof for 53 is Givental and I've heard bad things about him.

Either way, I have AP credit for Math 1A and Chem 1A (8 units), so I figured I could take a light first semester. I was also planning on taking some humanities courses in the summer either at the CC or a summer session at Cal.

E 98 is a fun class...at first. then it gets tedious and it becomes a drag just to show up. weekly homework assignments...it was more work than my physics 7b class (which had no homework). luckily it was only 10 weeks. i still recommend it though...it's very helpful and informative.

i'd skip out of 1B if i could...it's relatively hard to get an A in that class. Personally I never had Givental but yes, I've heard bad things about it, but you'll have to take 53 eventually and at least for me, I found that I could learn from the book.

I'm also considering not taking a math class my first semester (and possibly replacing that with some H&SS class) , then taking 53 in the spring. Is that a bad idea?
