Freshman Move In Orientation

I've only seen dorm rooms with blinds, never curtains. I got some for my room because the blinds are white and thus fairly ugly, bland, and depressing.

If you scroll down to pictures of sample rooms, you can see how the curtains looked in my and my roommate's room (sample double room):

<a href="http://www.wm.edu/reslife/residenceHalls/monroe.php%5B/url%5D">http://www.wm.edu/reslife/residenceHalls/monroe.php</a></p>

They were talking about (shower) curtains.

I assume the question was in reference to windows (I've never heard of shower blinds, if such a thing exists), in which case the answer in blinds. If you want curtains, you have to bring them.

hmmmm...everyone must be busy packing or already traveling!!!

The showers in botetourt indeed have curtains. Two curtains actually one blocking the entrance and a second about a foot and a half inward, I assume to store clothes and other things without them getting totally soaked.

My daughter's in Monroe, but her room's small than most because she's right next to the showers. Still, she and her roommate did a great job moving the furniture around and even though it's still tiny, at least it's cozy.

D. sounds busy, busy, busy, but happy. She's having a great time!

We loved the parent program and the depth of the orientation for students, but D spent 5 straight hours rushing about in 100+ degree heat yesterday afternoon/evening. I'm disappointed that the program wasn't modified to account for the extreme weather. Perhaps they could have held the late program in W&M hall (if the air conditioning was fixed; it was the rain alternative) rather than the outdoor ampitheatre.

I have to say that the orientation/move in day was the best I have ever seen. Even with the few problems (air conditioning in W & M Hall), everything was done in a very friendly and helpful manner. When our son checked into his dorm, all of his things were brought in for him by the wonderful students in the orange shirts. He called a little while ago and said that he is having a great time...they just finished a game of Ultimate Frisbee.

I thought orientation was done very well. We moved one load in the dorm and then a group of kids came up and took the rest in the dorm.

I like the way they are keeping the kids busy. My daugher is enjoying herself and said all the kids are very nice. She said today she thought she had made a "legit" friend.

So, so far so good. I'm sure there will be some bumps in the road but she seems pleased.
