Freshman Orientation

Emily2007or Neuchimie (or anyone else) , do either of you know when they will put out information about Freshman orientation?

Um… I seem to recall it wasn’t for a while… I definitely signed up for mine before school ended (May). But I do remember that other schools, typically the massive state schools, were having dozens of orientations in the spring while school was still going- and I hadn’t even gotten my info yet. So don’t worry about it too much.

Thank you- Not really worried, I was just trying to plan. I assume some will be in June and some in July? 2 Nites?

From what I recall, each college will have a choice of 3 orientation dates. I believe there’s one each in June, July, and August. Only one night.

You can do two nights though. You can pay a little extra to arrive the night before, if you’re from far away and don’t want/can’t come in at 8am.

I think there were a lot of Orientation sessions to choose from.

We vacation with family on Cape Cod each summer, so it was easy for us to join my son for orientation.

All students stay in the dorms. NEU offered parent accommodations in the on-campus apartments. (I think cost to add parents was $60/night per parent, including food in the cafeteria. It’s actually a pretty good deal considering Boston hotel costs). We stayed 2 nights. The first night we were the only ones in the apartment. For the second night, there was another couple there too. That actually turned out to be a neat thing.

I understand that students admitted into the honors program come for a whole week of orientation activities. Does anyone know how that fits in with the general orientation?

Honors students are there for a full week of Welcome Week activities, which means that they just move-in like three days before other freshmen move in (although lots of other freshmen move in early for various reasons too) in September (because all freshmen have a few days of Welcome Week activities anyways-- the honors program just has a few more).
