What happens if I am unable to go to Freshman Orientation? I'm already having a hard time paying for Carolina, and I just can't afford the travel costs and the fees for orientation. What do I do?

First, you should contact UNC with your concerns.

Secondly, there is an orientation session on Thursday 8/15 & Friday 8/16, just before check-in that weekend. It is reserved for those who cannot attend one of the summer sessions. That would save he additional travel costs of an extra trip.

Here is a statement from the Orientation site:

[First-Year Orientation Program Fees & Payments | New Student and Carolina Parent Programs](http://nscpp.unc.edu/first-year-students/orientation/dates/first-year-orientation-program-fees-payments.html)

“Financial constraints will not prohibit you from attending New Student Orientation. The Office of New Student & Carolina Parent Programs offers deferred payment plans. To request enrollment in a deferred payment plan, please contact newstudents@unc.edu or 919-962-8304.”

I am not sure if Financial Aid is available for orientation, but you should should check with their office too.

Congratulations on your acceptance and good luck!
