So, who is going? Which date and which program option?

I am debating whether I should go by myself or with my parents, due to the pricing ($179-207 ***...?) and conflicting work/time schedules (I live 2 hours away...)

Orientation is necessary. However, the only necessay part is registering for classes, which is on the second day. they have important info sessions, with useless stuff in between. last year, i skipped some of the programs and left early because they were a waste of time to me. Most parts were useless anyway: ice breakers, games, a sample lecture (just so you know what a lecture feels like…), and a “student night out” which lasted until like 9 pm and was totally unnecessary especially when you’ve been walking around campus since 8 am. I left at 6 pm and didn’t care what was after that because I was freaking tired. You can’t really avoid the ice breakers and games though, because they were usually followed by an inportant information session or program.

and my parents didn’t sign up for orientation. They just hung out in the city and stuff. You and your parents are gonna be attending separate programs anyway. The parent program is pretty much the student program scheduled differently (minus the class registration part). but if your parents are interested to get to know about the school better, the parent orientation may be useful. my parents didn’t even care lol.

I’m going! My stepmoms coming along but she’s not going to orientation, she’ll be staying in Santa Barbara. I’m also gonna stay over night in the dorms. I donno what days yet.

Personally, I thought it was a really expensive waste of time, but I had to go because (I believe) it’s necessary for FSSP students.

I think your orientation guide just takes you to a place in IV to get a snack somewhere (Woodstock’s, I think). I didn’t go, mostly because I thought it’d be better to have a nice meal in Santa Barbara with my parents instead on the last night they’d be there, while I’d stay the next 6-7 weeks for FSSP.

Yes. There’s always stuff going on in IV. I remember a good amount of people going out the first night they got there. I don’t think it’s as busy as the school year, though.
