They just told me to sign up and something about advisory appointments. Uh, what? Does any other incoming freshman know what we're going to be doing there?

My son received the I-Start registration booklet after he selected a registration date. From the booklet:

Student Registration Schedule
(subject to change)

Program Check-in 8:30 - 9:15am
University Welcome 9:15am
College Activities 10am
Lunch Noon - 1pm
Advising Appointments 1-5pm
Campus Resources 1pm
Quad Tours 2:30 - 4pm
Service Center 2:30 - 4pm
Minority Student Affairs Mtg 4-5pm

There is also a Parent / Guest schedule which is basically the same, save for the advising appointments.

Here's what happened last year-

You show up at the Illini Union Bookstore, and they take your photo for your i-Card, give you your i-Card, and give you a bag of free junk. Then, you go to the Illini Union, and you sit in the ballroom while the i-Guides come out and do a little dance, and say some random stuff about Illinois, and then divide you up by which college you're in. Then, each separate college goes to a certain building, and some counselor lectures you for about an hour about having a high GPA and joining clubs. Then, you meet one-on-one with another counselor, and you determine what classes you ought to take, based on your ACT and AP scores. Then, lunch at the Illini Union. Then, you go to some computer lab in a building, and someone sits next to you as you learn how to use the registration program on-line.

It ended there for me, so I just walked to Green St. and then back to my hotel, but it looks as if they've expanded the schedule a little bit.

I'll be doing this with you incoming freshmen :) ...can't wait.

Taffy, are you doing it with the transfers too? Oof I realized today it's only about three weeks away... it's coming up so fast!

If only CS/CE students were exempt from the computer tutorial... ;)
