Freshman questions

I took calc II my 1st semester even though I could’ve took calc III. I thought it was going to be harder than high school, it was, but it was still easy lol. Guess not for everyone because the avg grade is a B- smh. But if you can get an A in calc I you can get an A in calc II. So I would say take it. Just dont take calc and ochem at the same time, you will probably be very frustrated that semester. For almost all science classes, you must enroll into a lab with it. Med school requires the lab component. It is usually apart of your grade as well. You take your og class and go to lab once a week for like a 3 hour session. The lab and the class needs to be taking together. I couldn’t even enroll in a course without signing up for a lab at the same time.

Wow, weird. I have no idea, then, why I’m not signed up for any labs. I’ll have to email my adviser about that. I assumed they were part of the same course.
I think I’ll take OChem soph. year and CalcII 2nd semester this year. I’ll try to swap OChem for Physics (does it have a lab?) and get my MCB lab in. Hopefully I can convince my adviser that the change is not my fault (it half isn’t).

Last question, I swear. I think I’m going to major in Economics. How difficult would it be to balance my pre-med desires with Economics?

Thanks everyone (especially Dwalker and UncannyCrayon)!

Yeah they all have labs. Maybe, if the o chem was online, the lab was online aswell? Idk I would do what you said. Your advisor shouldve already caught it, but contact them. In not sure how challenging econ and premed will be. I only took one econ class at a college during my senior year in high school, and it is time consuming stuff. Premed is time consuming itself, so you probably wont have any easy semesters. There has been many people on CC who majored in econ and went the premed path, so its quite possible. Maybe they could chime in.

Any oteher suggestions for majors? I’m interested in politics, economics, science, modern relations, government, that sort of stuff.

Some colleges do indeed include the AP score on the college transcript. No, it will not affect the calculation of your AMCAS GPA.

Political science “Forty-one percent of all workers with this major are employed by government agencies.” That could be a good back up. You could become a politician lol. You could get hired in business as well with that degree.

Dwalker: Who are you quoting?

@TuftsStudent: CNN :-)

http://www.cnn.com/2008/LIVING/worklife/10/27/cb.what.major.pays/index.html

Ah, OK. I had misread it and somehow saw “41% of all workers are employed by the government,” and I thought you were mocking someone for writing that.

oh wow really? I thought I read that Political Science majors don’t have many opportunities after college. Good, I’m into that sort of stuff :slight_smile: I was into debate and activism stuff.

Any other good major suggestions?
