I was thinking of taking Film Studies R1A which satisfies the reading and composition requirement for freshman. My question is if this class is as well respected compared to Reading and Composition R1A. Do many students take this class and how do they feel about it? Thanks for your help!

Nobody cares about either class, as far as being respected, because they are intro classes, so take the one that sounds like it'd be more fun.

Ditto.

Unless your someone who absolutely wants to take a specific R1A class, then any will do to fulfill the requirement. Nobody cares.

theres no such thing as Reading and Composition R1A

theres an English r1a, rhetoric r1a, asian american studies r2a, german r5a, italian studies r5a..........etc etc etc

as long as it has an A or B in it, its R&C

I'm thinking of taking French R1A

I don't know, i would think that the classes with special honors or prereqs would be looked at better than others, although if you're going there, it's possible that the person considering is wondering how, with your genious, you weren't able to get out of the requirement! So, sure, the honors section that has only 10 people and requires a 3.5 gpa in high school english and reading knowledge of a foreign language probably looks better, but most people aren't even qualified enough to take it. I would say take the one that looks the most interesting, but then again, i'm one of those weird (pre)philosophy majors.

Anyone actually take Film? I would certainly prefer that. I could even stand writing long papers analyzing boring movies. Better than analyzing Edna Pontellier.
