Hey all.
So I am an incoming freshman at UNC hoping to major in Environmental Sciences. Right now I am getting ready to register online next week, and with that, a lot of debating with the parents has come about. I am looking to take the mandatory English 105, Math 231 which I placed in to, and Spanish 204. Now This is where I am a bit worried. I obviously want to get acclimated to life at UNC without drowning in work (given I will also be working a work-study job). I am going to have to take Biology 101L or Chemistry 101L. Any advice on which to take without killing myself, and still meeting the credit requirements to graduate on time? Also, If I take chem 101 this semester and bio 101 next semester (or vice versa) would I be considered behind on my major requirements? Any advice is much appreciated.
Thanks!
Did you attend orientation and speak to an advisor? Can you email your advisor and ask? My daughter is registered for 16 credits and may drop one class if it’s too much. She was told not to take two sciences together, so she is taking bio in the fall and chem in the spring. The girl who she attended the registration with was told to take chem in the fall and bio in the spring. My daughter emailed her advisor a few times and he emailed back immediately.

Thanks for the reply! When speaking to my advisor I was also told not to take two sciences at the same time as well. I was just wondering if there was a specific combination of classes that would be deemed brutal for a first semester. May I ask what other classes your daughter plans on taking?
She is taking anthropology, Spanish ( forgot the number but took AP in high school and placed into an upper level class after taking the placement test), English ( mandatory), bio 101 and a First Year Experience class. Like I mentioned, if it’s too much she may drop a class.
