Freshman Research Initiative

Has anyone here been involved in this program? What i really want to know is if anyone has worked over the summer in the lab as the program allows you to do. If you have can you tell me if there is a summer session or if its just a "do it as long as you want to" thing in the summer?

I found the answer to my question :stuck_out_tongue: However, I’d still like to know if anyone has been in the program and how their experience was.

You start with a class that teaches you the basics. After that, you get put in a lab - you can choose labs that can get you credit for bio lab, chem lab, or organic chem lab. In the summer, you can work under a professor doing “research”. You can then either choose to stay under that professor or move on. I don’t like it, but it is a good start for most people.

can i still get into FRI? and how do i get into FRI?

i just went to the “research streams” page and clicked join, but nobody else was there in the members.
heres the link for it, [Electronic and Magnetic Materials Research | Freshman Research Initiative](http://web3.cns.utexas.edu/fri/electronic-and-magnetic-materials)
