Hey guys, my younger bro, who's a 9th grader just took one of my collegeboard SAT practice tests.....he scored a 740 in W with essay(10 I scored it), 680 in CR, and 600 in Math...I told him his scores are great considering he's a 9th grader!!! he still wants other opinions...wat do u guys think?? (poor, average,or great)

PS: Do you think he has time to improve his scores to (720-800)???

of course…!Tell him to conc on math!!

For a ninth grader, I believe he did slightly above average. Tell him good job, but he needs to concentrate on the math section.

alright I will tell him…thankx i appreciate ur comms!!!

Slightly above average among what group of people?

Those are certainly respectable scores in general, and considering the amount of time he has to improve them, I’m sure he’ll ultimately wind up with a very good score. Focusing on math would probably be the most important, but I’ve found that just learning more math in school is the most helpful with that (that’s just from my personal experience; it may not necessarily be the case), so just going through high school should really help.

Oh, and disregard the comment that those scores are slightly above average; they’re well above the national average for SAT scores in general (he has a 2020, as compared to the average of ~1500). I’m sure for his age group they’re far more than ‘slightly’ above average.

Don’t worry, his scores are great (although if he can do that well, I’m sure he can raise them too).

Yeah, that’s pretty impressive for a freshman. He’d make National Merit Commended in some states…

The Commended cutoff is national.

Oops haha. I’ve been thinking it worked similarly to the semifinalist cutoff…

yeah thankx guyz…I know they’re great…dats wat i told him!!! btw we’re international students at an american school!!! so…no national merit for us!! also, he got 220 in his PSATs…I’ll help him with MATH as much as I can!! Thankx guys…
