Freshman schedule

Hello!
I have to send in the courses i want to take for my freshman year of high school. I want to go to a top tier university and probably will be going into either STEM or law. I will be going to a top 30 private high school which is really competitive.

Chinese 1 (no pior experience, just a high interest)
Swimming (during the winter trimester)
Global issues in historical context ( no honors available)
Algebra 2- percale honors
English 1 (no honors available)
Orchestra
Speech and Debate
Biology (honors or not?)
Other ECs

I am not sure if i should take Biology honors or not. I am worried that I won’t have time to do all the other EC that I want to do. Please give me your advice-thanks

Honors biology varies widely from school to school and even teacher to teacher. For me, it isn’t very hard at all. If you are good at science and you know your vocab, I’d recommend Honors.

You won’t be able to handle a STEM career if you can’t even handle high school honors bio.

If you’re thinking about pursuing a STEM career, take honors bio. Also, stop stressing about about rigor and whether or not you’ll be able to handle the coursework; as long as you’re driven, you’ll be more than fine. You should focus on getting adjusted to high school before you start thinking about colleges. (:

Are you planning on taking Algebra 2 and Pre-Calculus at the same time or is it a combined class?

Take what you feel comfortable with - it’s better to have enough time to complete coursework. And I really don’t think that if you don’t take/can’t handle honors bio as a FRESHMAN, you’ll be unprepared for a STEM career (after college).
