Freshman Schedule

Hello,
I will be a freshman this fall at emory, and I need some advice on how I should plan my schedule as a student on the pre med track. (mainly on how I should complete my pre reqs)

For now this is what I thought of…
Fall 1:
bio 141 / bio 141L
chem 150 / chem 150L
eng 101
hlth 100 (health)
hlth 190 (freshman seminar)
Spring 1:
bio 142 / bio 142L
chem 202 / chem 202L
QTM 302W (technical writing)
Fall 2:
Chem 203 / chem 203L (organic chem)
physics ?
stats?
Spring 2:
Chem 204 / Chem 204L (organic chem)
Bio 301 / Bio 301L (biochem)

I’m not sure when I should put in psychology and other writing intensive courses. I also need a foreign language (2 years) to graduate but I’m not sure whether to put them in the beginning two years or the last two years.

Any comments about completing pre reqs and general scheduling in college would be extremely helpful!

Check with your departmental advising. Many colleges require that you’ve completed ochem 2 before you can enroll in biochemistry. So maybe push that back for fall or spring of junior year.

Ochem is a beast and a huge time suck. Many people suggest not taking ochem and physics at the same time. (If you’re strong math & physics student, this may not be problem for you.) I’d sub one your required major classes for physics and take physics junior year. Sophomore year is a good time to take your easier classes–psych, sociology–because you want to have time to devote to ochem.
