Thoughts on Freshman Seminars?
I'm considering a few, but there were none that completely blew me away.
And I'm a bit insecure about -gulp- being in a teeny tiny class with all you smarties where we have to discuss and all that. I know, I know, I have to get used to it, but not sure if I want to start out first semester with something like that. I was thinking about easing into it. Haha!
Anyway just wanted to hear some opinions, info, etc. to help. :)

I’m also an incoming freshman, and I honestly only found one fall seminar that was of enough interest to me to consider looking outside the huge amount of classes I’ve researched/am interested in for the fall term.

However, I found about 4 that are of interest for the spring. Personally, I’m going to wait until then before attempting to take one. Hopefully I’ll stand a better chance of getting into my first choice in the spring, and, if not, I’ll still wind up in something of interest. I really like the idea of being in a more personal setting with a professor early on, especially if the professor generally teaches a subject that you’re considering as a major. I definitely understand how you feel insecure though, I do too! :)

Did you only look at the fall seminars or have you looked at all of them?

im def doing the scientists / weapons one, that looks BAMF, so plz don’t register for it!

Haha sorry the scientist weapons one is my first choice! Crap, I thought not a lot of people would go for that. Boooo. Haha

But anyway, I looked at the spring ones to and there were a couple I liked, but my favorite (the scientist one) and a couple others are in the fall, so I need to be deciding soon.

Hey! I’m also an incoming 2014 student and are we suppose to choose if we want to take a seminar in the fall or spring or is it mandatory to take one in both the fall and spring?

You generally only take a one freshman seminar, but there are a few people who take one both semesters. It’s certainly not mandatory.

Oh yea, I knew it wasn’t mandatory, I’m just trying to decide if I want to take one, which one, etc.
