I’m trying to think but I can’t recall anything that was truely unique to Syracuse. Even with my snow boots, I think I may of worn them twice for snowball fighting and what not. For the most part, snow is pretty much all cleared away by class time (at least with my schedule) so all I needed was a regular waterproof sneaker.
If I think of anything, I’ll be sure to let you know.

A great moisturizer/chapstick? Down comforter, maybe? I have a down comforter with a duvet (easier to wash it that way, but still a pain in the neck). They overheat the dorms so much, though, that as a freshman I rarely used it. In my apartment, it comes in handy sometimes.
Besides weather issues, Syracuse is like any other school in terms of what you’ll need.
You can always get something you need later.

If you are going to live in a dorm, buy a door stop, the doors rattle pretty loudly every time someone walks by and it may be hard to sleep. We bought a 3 pack for our daughter when we noticed how bad it was, and she kept one, and had friends beg for the other two, so she game them one too, so it was not just her door!

My door freshman year rattled quite a bit too. Around October we found out our windows weren’t closed properly. If the door is really that bad, you may want to close the second shield on your window.

Okay, so this isn’t something you really bring to SU, but I really recommend putting money into the PLUS account (primarily for doing laundry). The whole quarters thing is a big hassle and there is the possibility that your quarters may be eaten up by the machine.

Having a little bit of money in the PLUS account is definitely convenient. (I only had about 25 dollars at a time, which I believe is the minimum you can deposit) But even that small amount was great for a semester for doing laundry.
