Freshman Stern courses

I'm curious as to how hard the typical courses for Stern freshman are? I would like to go to law school after Stern and am concerned about possible drags on GPA at stern.

Cohort Leadership Project course (0 credits)

Texts & Ideas OR Cultures & Contexts (4 credits)

Natural Science^ (4 credits)

Math course^ (4 credits)

Expository Writing Program course^ (4 credits)

Microeconomics, Statistics, or Elective course^ (4–6 credits)

Didn’t take it as a transfer, although I have heard that it is fun.

A lot of reading, and you write a few essays.

Easy

Didn’t take it, it will also depend on what level you plan to take.

A lot of reading and writing

Statistics was pretty easy

I would split 2 and 5 unless you like reading and writing, so maybe 3, 4, 5 , and 6.

the natsci that I took, Einstein’s Universe, with Professor Schucking was a horrific experience. He was a brilliant man, books were written about him, and he worked with and for the names that we read in the books and who had formulas named after them (including Hubbell!) Unfortunately, he was so old and out of date with technology, that getting into contact with him was next to impossible, as he didnt even have an email, rather, a home phone we were not to call after 10pm. His lectures were, although fascinating, completely different from what the class was supposed to be and had nothing to do with the midterm/final, both of which were extremely difficult, even though they were open book/note (since the reading or labs didnt follow the class or exam in the slightest). For instance, one of the questions asked us to figure out how many times we would have to fold a sheet of paper to make it 3.8 centimeters thick. The course went into crazy concepts, such as special relativity, theoretical/astrophysics, quantum enigma, etc, even though NatSci is famously referred to science for ■■■■■■■. I am in Stern, and this was my lowest grade of the semester at a B-, so be EXTREMELY cautious about NatSci.

Too many credits you’ll pay extra for that last course. Normal load 4 courses per semester not including the zero credit cohort.
