did anyone sign up for freshman orientation as of yet?

Yes I signed up weeks ago! You might want to hurry before all the earlier dates are filled up. Classes are picked at orientation so obviously the sooner the better! :)

what date did you get? daughter does not graduate until june 24th, and is very busy up until then! looking at the last week in june. so i guess being an honors student will not make too much difference for scheduling at that late time. (?)

I’m going may 16-18th. That’s very late for getting out of school! I get put may 13th and graduate the 25th. The summer session starts June 27th… Did you mean fall orientation? And as for honors, I was accepted as well but I don’t think the priority registration starts for freshman until we sign up for fall classes.

Actually, for incoming students Honors priority registration will not start until Spring 2012. For Fall 2011, you will register at your orientation. Students starting Summer 2011 will register for fall classes during Summer C. Several classes will be taken with your Freshman Interest Group (FIG) and they will be reserved as a block of classes. Others recommended will be liberal studies requirements and introductory so they are mostly freshman level courses. Even if you come in with accelerated credit, there are still some required classes you will need that you don’t already have credit for. Additional courses and available seats are added as they fill up during each orientation.

sorry–I was unclear in my words! Daughter is attending FSU in the fall. She will be coming down in June for orientation. She will be coming down on the 20th–and will graduate from HS on the 24th!!

thank-you, Nolette for the clarification! Daughter is only concerned about ONE class that she needs to get into in the fall, so that in the fall of 2012 she is in line for the program!!

Mdksjk, you’re welcome. Unfortunately, the Honors advantage doesn’t kick in until the spring registration:(

What is her intended major? What class will she be trying to register for?

Orientation is awesome and you will learn a lot there. Your daughter will be so excited and anxious to come back in August!

Just to be 100% sure: I start in the summer. I don’t have to rush to sign up for orientation right? There is one class that I’m worried about. There’s only one of it & it’s 22 people -__-

I am also attending FSU in the fall. I signed up for one of the earliest orientations at the beginning of June. I am sooo excited! What kind of activities will there be at orientiation?

to Nolette–she is trying to get into the film program. She was not invited to interview this year with the program, but if she gets into the FIL2001 class/course, she can say she has taken that class. She plans on doing a lot of volunteering within the program, in hopes of getting an interview at this time next year.

Cassy: Is the class you want to take a summer or fall course? If you start in summer, you will register for summer classes at summer orientation in May. During Summer C you will register for fall classes. If there is only one class with 22 seats, it must not be too popular. They have experience with these classes and know how many to offer each term without having empty seats. What class is it?

Cbnbca: You should go to orientation with no expectations, so I’m not going to tell you what to expect, except that you will truly catch the FSU Spirit if you haven’t already!
GO NOLES!

Mdkskj: That class is large, so they could add seats for incoming freshmen. I know they added seats for many classes when I registered last June. The classes seem to be filled and then more classes and/or seats are added for each orientation. Since current students start to register after Spring Break, they do hold seats back for freshmen.

I don’t know how the Film Department works, except that they are VERY selective and only enroll very few students each year. And all that are interviewed don’t get in.

Good luck!

thanks again-Nolette! My daughter realizes that she is among a ton of competition in the film program @ FSU–but she is determined for them to ‘get to know her’ when she comes down for the 2011-12 year! Getting into that class will really help her get to know someone in the program.

Thank you Nolette. I 'm not sure if I want to say what it is on here ;] Is there more than one summer orientation?

There are multiple orientations. There are 2-3 a week over a 6 week period from mid may to end of June.

Does anyone have all of the various orientation dates? Thanks

If you’re starting in the summer than you only get may orientation dates. The earliest (last I checked) is the 16th-18th.

Daughter coming down on June 15th–for Fall2011 orientation!
