Freshman taking questions about Pomona

ADADONCC, yes, you can major in Chemical Engineering at Pomona. [Program: Chemistry Major - Pomona College - Acalog ACMS?](<a href=“Program: Chemistry Major - Pomona College - Acalog ACMS™”>Program: Chemistry Major - Pomona College - Acalog ACMS™)

82HM is Chemical and Thermal Processes, Engineering Clinic is Harvey Mudd’s specialty engineering program. The department strongly recommends students to take Introductory Engineering at HM too. The chemistry classes are taken at Pomona.

The pre-med track… let’s see.

Chemistry can be anywhere from really easy to somewhat difficult, depending on the teacher. The grades usually range from B+ to A’s.

Biology is somewhat difficult. The grade range is usually B to A-.

Critical Inquiry can be really easy to really challenging, depending on the teacher. The same goes for the English class you’ll take after ID. Usually, grades lie from B- to B, though there are some English classes in which everyone makes an A- or above.

Intro to Sociology is generally pretty easy here. Grades range from B+ to A’s.

Intro to Psychology is an easy class. Most people get A-'s or above.

Intro to Physics is medium difficulty to very challenging, depending on whether you take the non-majors or majors class. Most get above a B though.

O’Chem is a very difficult class. Very few get A-'s or above.

I think that’s it for the pre-med requirements. It’s definitely a doable track here. There aren’t curves- you’ll get the grade you deserve. The weeding out effects comes not from grades but from people who realize they don’t like the inflexibility of the track.

how rigorous would it be to get for example a 3.67 (med school average acceptance gpa) for someone with below the 25% stats like a 29 act

Hi, just wondering if this thread is still going? S is a sophomore and next winter we hope to apply to Questbridge. Pomona is far from where we live but it’s on our list because it sounds so supportive and the financial aid sounds so generous that it still seems like a possibility.
