Freshman Transferring - Ok to drop a class?

I recently applied to transfer to other four year colleges, all of which have an "8 class/course" requirement. I am having difficulty with my current CS class, and I'm thinking about dropping it, because I will definitely not get a C (the minimum grade for most schools to give you credit). What should I do? Should I drop it, or get a D or C- when I could be working on raising my grades in other classes?

Will I no longer be considered for transfer admission if I drop this one class? I’ll only have 7 courses, and there’s no telling which will be awarded credit.

If you definitely won’t get a C, then I think dropping it would be the better solution. You will have to explain why you dropped it late in the semester I think, but if you know you can’t get your grade to a C I personally don’t see a point in staying in it, when, like you said, you could be working with other classes.

Also, it’s not the end of the world if you can’t transfer this semester considering you’re a freshman, and even if you aren’t considered for transfer to some schools, there’s always next year.

Can you do summer school to make it up? If you’re not going to make at least a C, then definitely drop it. It’s just not worth the hit to your GPA.

This late in the year, won’t it show up as a W on your transcript?

I would think it would actually show up as a WF.
