i got a letter yesterday from rpi saying that since there are so many e.d. freshman who wanted barton, they're going to have a lot of triples. i'm just curious, but did anyone have a triple dorm room? do you think it's harder to get along with two other people rather than just one? it's only a $450 reduced rate, so i'm not sure if it's worth it. i may rather have just a double. write back please!

Noone in barton this year had a triple -- they were all doubles, and nice ones at that (size-wise, not social-wise).
Next year I guess they are going back to the triples, and if that's the case, I would personally spring for a double. I was in Cary Hall last year and was in the triple room there, but there were only 2 of us (I lucked out haha).
As for getting along, if you get lucky, you will get very friendly with both of them in a triple. Most arent as lucky though. With 2 people, I found it very easy to setup my own area in the room, and I was able to get a little more privacy when I wanted it. With triples, you are a little more squashed and generally have less privacy or personal space.....but then again, its Barton, home of the anti-socials.
