Freshman with 13 units? Recommended?

Hi. I am an incoming freshman and as my first quarter I am only planning to take 13 units because of the rigor of my classes!

I have

Physics 9HA Honors - 5 units

Calculus 21B - 4 units

Research Methods in Psychology - 4 units

Am I pushing my luck here or is this OK for a physics major? How rigorous is this schedule?

Thanks!

Hi,
My classes are also similar to yours.
Physics 9A, Math 22A, and Engineering 6
People have recommended me to not take more than 13 unites for the first quarter.
I'd suggest the same for you.

13 worked great for me my first quarter.

Just take 13 units, you'll need plenty of time to study and settle into the quarter system as well as getting to meet plenty of new people (which means procrastination...)

And if you feel that you still had plenty of time to do non-school activities..then go ahead and do 16 units or so your next quarter.

*Note: Winter quarter registration begins midway through fall quarter, so ALWAYS be thinking about what classes you need and want to take..

what if we're taking 16 first quarter lol.

I had 16 my first quarter and did just fine:

Economics 1B
Mathematics 16A
Political Science 1
Chemistry 2A

I have 18.5 my first quarter...

Fooshy,

how long were your classes. and how long did you have in between classes? also, did you have heavy and light days?

can you outline your last schedule? it will give me an idea of if i should adjust my schedule.

thanks!
