Freshman Year at Community College

Hey CCers,
I'm a freshman at my community college, and everything so far has been alright and easy to manage since classes started a little more than a month ago, but I'm kinda bummed out about some things. For instance, a lot of my friends are gone now to four year schools with meeting new people and experiencing college life, I'm just worried for myself that these next two years are gonna be some boring ones in my life. I mean my community college is alright, I have some friends there that I went to high school with, but i wasn't exactly close with them all the time. I'm tryna look up and stay positive about things, but I feel like I really wanted that college experience since my parents kept me sheltered so much of my life.

So how did you handle things at the start of community college?
Will the transfer experience be anything remote to a freshman one?

I can only answer the first part of this personally. i started community college during my senior year of high school, just doing night classes. so all of my friends were still around at the time, i just made more in college, and that progressed, the next year i got some high school friends, well like you said, more acquaintences, and i made even more new friend from other schools.
the biggest thing you gotta realize is life is always changing. you’re always gonna meet new people, do new things. some you like, and some you don’t like. the trick is to make the situation into one you do like. you want the college experience, then make the community college experience. you say sheltered, sounds like you want to party. go get yourself an apartment and throw some parties! honestly, you need to meet more people in your school, i bet they are already throwing parties.
