Freshman Year Courses

Ok so I’m going pre-med, so I am pretty sure I will be doubling up on bio and chem my first year… any advice regarding this? I heard doubling up is difficult. Also, I got a 4 on the AP Calc AB test, and so I placed out of Calc 1 and into Calc 2. I am not sure whether or not I should retake Calc 1 or go ahead and take Calc 2. I thought the AP test was pretty hard. Any words of advice on this?

@kellz10 Take math 116 with Duffus! You get good teaching and I hear he isn’t that hard (okay, I know he isn’t). Class is also relevant to the life sciences (it is life sciences calculus). As for doubling up, could be difficult for some FRESHMEN, but in general is a norm after freshman year (and I would say over half do it freshmen year since the credit hours changed and both ochem and biology are required for biochem. In addition, if you want to choose a good ochem instructor, you probably don’t want to double up with biology which has a killer lab) and doubling and tripling up will become even more normalized as students try to ensure that they can take biochemistry by junior year (unless you take summer courses often in the sciences, which is not the best look, you will probably double or triple up every now and then if you are a science major). What major(s) are you considering?
