Also whats the selection process like (aka how much of a say do we have in it)

The dorms for freshmen are Village C, Harbin, Darnall and New South. You really don't get any say at all in where you go, though you can pick your roommate. Most people will tell you that their dorm is the best, I live in Harbin and love it, seeing all the rest makes me feel like it is the best. Rooms are big, and the cluster is actually pretty cool, you become close friends with everyone. New South is more of a traditional style dorm with long hallways, its probably one of the top two, can be noisy, generally considered to be more social because of the long hallways. Village C is alright, it has a personal bathroom and shower if thats what you want, other than that, small rooms. Darnall is typically considered to be the worst freshman year dorm, mostly because it is so far away from everything (though this is college "far away" meaning like max an extra 5 minutes from most things haha), inside its ok, and I've heard they bond in their shared "misery" pretty well lol. Anyway, thats the basics, if you have any more questions just ask.

Overall room size and quality? I know it varies, but I am curious. My high school is part boarding and some colleges I have seen have been a big step down fom my high school in terms of size of dorm rooms!!! Especially for freshmen.

So what's the call?

Most freshman rooms are in the realm of 200 sq. feet. Some are bigger some are smaller. Every room has individually controlled air conditioning and heat. New South rooms are the largest. Harbin rooms have large closets. Darnall has giant windows. Village C has individual bathrooms. They all have their pluses and minuses. Darnall was renovated in 96, Harbin in '00, New South in '04 and Village C over the last summer. I've not been inside Darnall, but the other three are pretty much uniformly nice...new kitchens/furniture in common rooms, etc.

village c west is not that small! i live there and I love it! though we did luck out and get the handicap dorm which is huge village c is the ****... and having that private bathroom definately does not hurt when i hear stories about throw up in the bathroom also every monday from my friend who lives in new south

The Southwest Quad is perhaps one of the best dorms on campus. It was built in 2003, so the facility is new.

Though it is an upper-classmen dorm, you can live in it if you sign up for a living learning community.
