Freshman Year Fall Schedule

I'm not sure what is a good course load to have during fall of freshmen year for a Revelle student. I've come up with a tentative schedule and need some feedback. Math20A, Chem6AH, BILD1, MUS95W, LTWR8A (professors: Eggers, Hoeger, Patrick, Seshadri, Springer, respectively). It amounts to 18 units. However, MUS95W is an extremely easy class so it doesn't even count. That brings us down to 16 units. I would highly appreciate feedback on BILD1 and LTWR8A. How hard are they? Do they require a lot of time and effort. Are they exciting classes to take? Any such feedback is welcomed. Also, feedback on the professors would be awesome (I've checked reatemyprofessor already). Thanks so much in advance.

if i remember correctly, you cannot take bild1 until you have completed chem6a and are enrolled in chem6b. but i don't know how it works if you take 6ah + bild1 at the same time.

i wouldn't recommend starting off with 2 sciences + math the first quarter. take another GE (you're in revelle, you have plenty of those...) just because you need to gauge the difficulty level and adjust from there. also, 18 units is more than enough. even if it seems like it's half the number of hours in hs, it's 3x more work.

have not heard much about ltwl8a (is that poetry or composition...?) but i took an english lit class (lten21). that was the best class i've taken so far, no doubt about it.

bild1 = EZ A, after you get past all of the grade-grubbing premeds who beg for another half point in a 400 point class. bild1 (like most bio classes) just require memorization. don't stress.

wow.. that seems a bit too much.. Im just going to take 3 classes..

I don't think that its too bad, except that you can't take Bild1 until you take 6A (or AH in your case) and taking 3 science classes right off the bat is a little intense. Maybe another GE. If you really want to take another science, you can try to take bild3 though(if you're a bio major that is). No point in rushing it though.

I was trying to figure out where my classes would be using the online map and it got kinda of confusing. What does LEDDN AUD stand for? AUD as in Auditorium? And I couldn't find CENTR 115 on the map. Where would HSS 2154 or 1345 be on the map here:UCSD Campus Maps - Visitor Map

Thanks again.

Ledden Auditorium was renamed around 2003-2004, it's aka HSS 2250, the main lecture hall in HSS on the Muir campus.

Center Hall is directly north of Leichtag, and south of Price Center. It's the southeastern most building on Library Walk.

HSS is in Muir. The 2000 buildings are on campus level (meaning you don't need to take stairs), 1000s are downstairs.

And really, STOP STRESSING. It'll be much easier (and you have plenty of time) to wander around campus to look these things up for yourself. Even if you get yourself to the general vicinity, you can ask for directions on the first day (unless you're one of those stubborn guys who hates doing so).

you can get between any two points on the main campus within 10 minutes.

(except warren lecture hall to york...god that's probably one of the worst. uphill and across campus)

what about 6th to ERC? :P

well luckily there aren't very many lecture halls in erc or sixth so it's unlikely you'd somehow have classes one after the other in. :) (thank goodness)

Pepper Canyon Hall (Sixth) to Robinson Building Complex or Copley International Conference Center (ERC). I'd avoid that. Just like Warren to York; uphill and across campus.

not really related (sorry im butting into your thread) but i just wanted to verify you CAN take math 10A or 20A and chem 6A at the same time, right?

Yes, to ad.bc.
