I've heard that some schools don't consider freshman year grades. Is this true? and which schools are they? (Esp. in the top 25)

Thanks!

Ann Arbor doesn't look at them

Michigan, The UC system - Berkeley, UCLA, UCSD, etc.

Princeton and Stanford.

princeton and stanford don't look at freshman year grades?? do they count towards your overall GPA though?

^ yup, at least I know Princeton does

They probably count for your GPA, but it really depends on the school whether how it's formatted on the transcript. I know for sure Stanford does not look at 9th grade, since 2 seniors went this year from my school and one of them had FOUR C's freshman year (not a URM, hook, or anything of the like, it can be inferred most likely that the 4 C's was not detrimental). It probably says on the website too...

Princeton, I'm not sure. UC's probably care less, although I'm not sure about that either...haha.I'd say if this is a problem for you, don't worry about it = freshman year isn't as important.

Just a quick note from my personal example, I'm the exact opposite, I somehow (luckily) got a 4.0 this year as a freshman, many A-'s, but I did like virtually no EC's, volunteering, studying, and the like. In short, I was a lazyass who played games all day.

thanks! ten char
