Freshman Year (HS) Recap/Advice

Well, I just finished up freshman year a few weeks ago.... and it went pretty well... here are my grades:

1st Semester-
English I: C+
Algebra I: B
Biology I: B
Russian I: B
PE: A+
Fine Arts (Survey): A
Theology:A
History: B

2nd Semester-
English I:B+
Algebra I: A
Biology I:A
Russian I: B+
Theology:B+
C++: A+
Global History: A

GPA
1st- 3.37 (about, dont remember exactly)
2nd- 3.81

CUM GPA- 3.65

As you can see, I really got the hang of it second semester and ramped it up a notch. Next year (sophmore), im hoping I can get ATLEAST a 4.0, hopefully a 4.25+ (A+'s are worth 4.5 at my school). My school is fairly difficult (it is one of the best in my state, private). Next year I will be taking the PSAT's in sept., and will probably score fairly well (going to study, but I usually do well on standerdized tests).

The thing that really worries me is 1st semester, do you think it will kill me if I do really well the rest of my years? Also, would an upward trend help me a lot? I'm not really shooting for HYPSM etc. (although it would be nice), but just want to do the best I can, and if it turns out I am accepted, then great, if not, life goes on.

I'm not going to focus on EC's as they are fine and I am more worried about grades.

Thanks everyone. :)

At places like the Ivys yeah, having a low GPA for a semester will hurt. Of course, they like seeing the upward trend and most don't count freshman grades for as much, but just like every little bit can help, every little bit can hurt. At most schools it'll be a complete non-issue if your grades are really good from now on. Now you're a sophomore, don't worry about anything but having fun and trying in class for another year.
