I got a B freshman year (as did basically everyone else) and a C on a class I was placed in due to error first semester.
First semester gpa: 3.6
Second semester: 3.8

Do these freshman year grades really matter?

Depends on the school. For UCs, CSUs, Stanford and McGill, no. However, there are other schools that will care about freshman year.

I’m in the same situation. Got 4 Bs freshman year so a 3.88 with, 3.96 without freshman year -____- puts me barely top 10%

I meant i got a b in honors english (you don’t get the extra grade point though). Almost everyone else in my class got a B or lower
