...bla bla bla...

The General Studies Curriculum emphasizes the Great Books, with instruction in small classes creating a highly personalized, small college atmosphere. La Pietra serves to provide a rigorous environment that is especially suited for this humanistic curriculum. Students enrolled in this program will begin their first year of undergraduate education at our La Pietra campus in Florence. In their second year, students will continue their studies in New York City and have the opportunity to take courses in their intended area of interest.
Um, what? If I want to go to NYU, I have to go to Florence my freshman year??

haha i know. its so weird! i can't call them now, so I will tomorrow. If they tell me I have to go to Italy, I'll say thank you, but no.

Isn't it weird to hear about the GSP program now? I thought everyone heard earlier about that. Plus, I have a 2070 new SAT, 1350 old, so I guess I was right at the cut off line. oh well, I hope the Florence thing at least, is a mistake.

I don't know anything about this, but it sounds like heaven on earth to me:

[quote] Why NYU in Florence?

NYU boasts one of the most spectacular sites on Florentine soil. The complex of 5 villas, located precisely one Roman mile from downtown Florence, predates the 16th century. The last renovations, before NYU's extensive recent modernizations, took place in the 1920s and 30s and display the rich and eclectic taste of the Acton family. The Acton collection includes rare early medieval sculpture, late Renaissance painting, Tuscan majolica, and pieces from Harold Acton's extensive travels in China. La Pietra's historic gardens are second in importance only to the famous Boboli gardens! Between villas Natalia and Colletta (the student residences) and villa Ulivi which houses the academic center, is a vast field of olive groves. Fig trees and trellised garden rooms ornament the grounds between the student residences. Despite its history, which NYU's renovations have meticulously preserved, Villa Ulivi has most modern conveniences: a cafeteria with a terrace overlooking the Tuscan countryside, computer labs w/ internet, a screening room and multi-media equipped classrooms.

It is weird that NYU would make you go, though. Still, if it were me, I would be renewing my passport!

I would totally go if I were you too. I mean, yeah, it's not what you were expecting, but it would be a great opportunity! Florence! You should definitely find out everything you can and seriously consider it. And congrats on getting in!
