So, it' hard to believe that I am already thinking about move-out, when it feels like we just move S into Monroe. But, here it is.......Move in was great, very organized and lots of information provided by the school about the procedure. (So for parents of next year's freshman class, relax, it's really easy).
That being said, I am now trying to figure out the move-out procedure. I know that there are storage companies who provide boxes etc. But in our situation, S is seriously considering staying at TU for the first summer session (he has an internship opportunity). This will require him to move to another dorm. He seems to think that if he is able to move to the dorm that he will be living in sophomore year that he can then leave his stuff until August (I however doubt that this will be the case). Has any one had any experience with the summer session procedures?
Now, onto Sophomore move in. On what day does this occur? Is it the same as freshman move in day? If so, will there be a team of people helping out or are we on our own?

I cannot answer the issue about staying for the summer. As far as moving back in this fall, it is after the freshman move-in officially, usually starting at 9 AM that Sunday. However I have heard that they are often allowed to move in Saturday after the freshman move-in dies down. There is no assistance like there is with freshmen, but most don’t need it. What is commonly done (of course this is when they don’t stay for summer) is that most of their stuff is put in storage, and the storage companies pick it up in May and return it in August, so in that sense there is assistance. I believe they pick it up from and return it directly to the rooms.

Thanks Fallen. I can always count on you! Actually, my sister and nephew were at the Top Scholars weekend last weekend and were told that freshman move in is going to be on Friday August 22, not Saturday.
BTW, my nephew got DH and he will be attending Tulane with my son in the fall!

Yes, I think you mentioned that he got the DHS. That is so excellent. Congrats to all.

That is a surprise about move-in on Friday. I guess that means upperclassmen will be on Saturday, officially. Actually this seems like a good change. I bit more time to acclimate before classes start, maybe not such a tight schedule trying to shop at Target, Wal-Mart, etc. and still be there for the other required activities. It will be interesting to see how they have changed the rest of the schedule, or for that matter if they have made other changes.

Oh, and be sure to get your sister to post (through you if she doesn’t have an ID on here) their summary of the weekend.

my nephew is a CC stalker, maybe he will post!
